Grant Theft Auto 5 was released nearly ten years ago and managed to blow everybody away with its exciting gameplay and new features. However, it was the game’s multiplayer component, i.e., Grand Theft Online, that kept the fans hooked to the game all these years. In the meantime, the game has sold more than 180 million copies so far and has helped Rockstar Games make quite a lot of money.

GTA Online has been the recipient of plenty of massive updates over the past few years, including brand-new heists, new modes, and a lot of in-game purchases. Unfortunately, that last part is not really an exciting one. Bases, guns, apartments, vehicles, and other items cost players a huge amount of their in-game money.

Even though gamers can earn most of these items through gameplay alone, it can take quite a lot of time and effort. This is where microtransactions enter the picture since they allow Grand Theft Auto players to exchange real money for some fake in-game cash. After that, they can easily afford the stuff they desire, such as guns, vehicles, etc.

With the release of GTA 6 coming up, players are wondering what the new GTA Online will look like. However, two Take-Two Interactive executives’ recent earnings indicate that there will be plenty of more in-game purchases that players will have to suffer through.

Famous YouTuber called LegacyKillaHD brought up the topic on Twitter by reacting to the news that the major two Take-Two Interactive executives managed to earn a combined total of $72,350,718 from 2023 alone, and the year's not even over yet.

It has been reported that Grand Theft Auto’s microtransactions are a huge contributor to this massive sum. Plenty of GTA fans joined in on the conversation adding their own comments to the Twitter post. Most of them are mentally preparing themselves for a massive amount of in-game purchases.

One such GTA fan commented, “Oh it’s gonna wild. Hopefully the shit stays out of story,” with another fan stating, “Yup not a fan of Rockstar for this very reason. Well made games for sure but those casinos in GTA5 are horrific.” A third fan decided to drop in on the conversation, saying, “GTA VI’s budget is rumored to be $2B. No fuckin way would that be happening if it weren’t for microtransactions. 10+ years of shark cards is craaaazy.”

GTA 5 has managed to survive off of microtransactions and content updates for a long time now, so it seems almost inevitable that they will somehow enter GTA 6. From what we can tell, it will most likely be similar to GTA Online, players will be able to pay in-game cash if they don’t feel like wasting their time and efforts on missions and heists.
