A sequel to the original anime Great Pretender is about to hit the big screen. Titled Great Pretender: Razbliuto, it’s the first movie in the franchise and features Dorothy, a self-proclaimed genius woman who invites Laurent to the world of con games. The anime film has released its new trailer, revealing its cast members and official release date. You can watch the preview below:
The trailer begins with Dorothy asking, “Why did something like this happen?” while aboard a bus. A montage of scenes then begins to play, featuring the leader of the confidence gang as she thinks of the year that passed. The next scene features Jay, the Wang organization’s young leader, followed by Yang, a self-proclaimed Taipei's number-one genius scammer, seemingly trying to scam a new victim.
The preview also features Mori, a member of the King’s organization, along with Wang Wei Go, who rules Taipei’s black society. Tsai, the King’s organization’s executive and Wang Wei Go’s right-hand man, is also introduced. Lastly, Bing Yen, King Go’s secretary, is revealed.

Behind the scenes, Hiro Kaburagi returns to direct the film while he also works on the script alongside Taku Kishimoto. The first season’s screenwriter, Ryota Kosawa, also returns as the script supervisor. The crew also includes Mai Teshima as the assistant director and Shosuke Ishibashi as the chief animation director.

Based on the original anime of the same name by Wit Studio, the series was released on Netflix in two batches with 23 episodes in 2020. It even features Freddie Mercury’s The Great Pretender as its opening theme. Wit Studio also produces the sequel, Great Pretender: Razbliuto. Though it's said to be a movie, its format remains unclear.
