The television anime adaptation of Kei Urana's dark fantasy manga Gachiakuta has been officially renewed for a second season. The announcement arrived on December 21, 2025, moments after the broadcast of the first season's 24th and final episode in Japan. Produced by studio Bones Film, the inaugural season spanned two consecutive cours, delivering intense action and a gritty dystopian narrative that captivated audiences throughout the year.

Gachiakuta originated as a manga serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine since February 2022. Written and illustrated by Kei Urana, with distinctive graffiti designs contributed by Hideyoshi Ando, the series quickly gained acclaim for its unique visual style and themes exploring class disparity, revenge, and the value hidden in society's discards. Urana, who previously assisted on Atsushi Ohkubo's Fire Force, has been praised for her dynamic storytelling and punk-inspired aesthetics. To mark the Season 2 renewal, both Urana and Ando shared celebratory illustrations.

The franchise's momentum extends beyond animation. A stage play adaptation is set for 2026, featuring Hikaru Imamaki in the starring role as protagonist Rudo. Performances will commence in Tokyo from May 22 to 31 at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Stellar Ball, before transferring to Kyoto's ROHM Theatre Kyoto South Hall from June 5 to 7. Directed by Go Ueki and scripted by playwright Watashiomu, the production promises to capture the manga's raw energy and "dope and punk" worldview through live theatrical expression. The announcement included a striking key visual and promotional video, alongside the reveal of a full main cast ensemble.

Further broadening the series' reach, developer Com2uS has revealed Gachiakuta: The Game, a survival action RPG currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The title aims to immerse players in the treacherous world of the Pit, where they will battle mutated trash beasts, complete missions in monster-infested zones, and harness special abilities drawn from discarded objects. An announcement trailer showcased in-development footage highlighting the series' signature fast-paced combat and graffiti-infused visuals, teasing an experience where players "crawl back from the abyss of Hell to change this lousy world."

Crunchyroll describes Gachiakuta as follows:

In a floating city where the rich discard their waste—and people—Rudo is framed for murder and thrown into the Pit, where a hellscape of mutated trash beasts dwell. To survive, he must wield a new power and join the Cleaners. Rudo doesn’t just aim to battle monsters, but the corrupt who cast him into Hell.

The first season of Gachiakuta, which established the series as a standout shonen title with its bold critique of societal inequality and visceral action sequences, is available in its entirety for streaming on Crunchyroll, including subtitles and an English dub.
