Frieren: Beyond Journey's End treated the viewers with a two-hour special premiere featuring its first four episodes last week. As fans see the start of Frieren’s journey to immortality and to understand people for more, the anime has dropped its fifth episode’s official synopsis and preview stills to tease what’s to come.

Based on the manga of the same name written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, it has made a big name for itself after winning the 14th Manga Taishō and the 25th annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. As of September 2023, it has over 10 million copies in circulation, and after being serialized in 2020, it has been adapted into anime by Madhouse. Following its debut last week, Frieren: Beyond Journey Episode 5 is about to come.

The anime’s official website has dropped the stills for the upcoming episode, showing Frieren and Fern as they go on a new journey. In one of the previews, Fern looks tired as she leans on Frieren, who’s reading a book while sitting. In another, the young apprentice looks surprised as she seems to be in the middle of a forest.

The next still features the two looking at a red dragon. And by the looks of it, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Episode 5 is about to introduce Stark, a human warrior who happens to be Eisen’s apprentice, as he’s seen with Frieren and Fern in another preview.

You can see the preview stills below:

What will happen in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Episode 5?

Titled Ghost of the Dead, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Episode 5 will see Frieren and Fern go to Areol, where the soul sleeps, after seeing it written on the note that Flamme left. This time, the two say goodbye to Eisen and make their way to continue their journey. As Frieren wants to have a word with his late friend and party member Himmel, will it happen in a place where the Demon King’s castle is?

However, instead of talking to Himmel, Frieren and Fern will be welcomed by the village’s problems. The two may investigate how ghosts take the villagers away and go missing.

You can read the synopsis below:

Freelen and Fern decide to aim for the “Areol, the place where the soul sleeps” that was written in the note left by Flamme, and they part ways with Eisen and continue on their journey. Is it possible to talk to Himmel in the place where the Demon King's Castle is now? When he visits a certain village, he finds that many villagers have been taken away by ghosts and are missing.
