Fortnite scams have been rapidly increasing, with many players getting targeted on a daily basis. Recently, plenty of official websites from government agencies and other websites have been getting hacked. The hackers offer scams that are based on Epic Games’ popular battle royale game along with Roblox and many more. As the scam promises, players only have to enter a couple of details in order to earn V-Bucks in Fortnite.

V-Bucks scams are pretty common and have been bothering players for quite some time now. There has never been any permanent solution of removing them, even though Epic Games really tries to remove and ban all sorts of cheaters and hackers from Fortnite. These scams are hidden quite well, so one can easily think something is not as serious as it seems.

The security researcher at Human Security, known as Zach Edwards, has been keeping track of these scams for a couple of years now. The researcher stated that hackers can get a hold of the activities of affiliate users of a particular advertising company. This company then serves as a service that sends over web traffic to a couple of online advertisers. This allows users to sign up and use its systems.

However, Edwards can find plenty of websites with reputable and popular domains like .gov, .org, and .edu getting compromised because of these scams. Through Wired, Edwards further explained, “This group is what I would consider to be the number one group at bulk compromising infrastructure across the internet and hosting scams on it and other types of exploits.”

The strategies and ways in which people get their money from Fortnite players are different, but nearly all of the websites are hacked in a similar way. When a website’s backend is weak or vulnerable, hackers exploit this and upload malicious PDF files to the website. Such files, also known as “poison files” by Edwards, then end up showing in search engines and claim to give away free Fortnite skins, Robux, V-Bucks, and much more.

Not only this but cheap streams of various other popular movies are also filled with poison files. The files are filled with specific words that people frequently search for on these topics. Unfortunately, these are all scams, and there are no other ways in which players can earn money except in-game.

So, it is crucial that players do not trust any of these scams that might show up in any nature. Moreover, it is important to note that Epic Games never asks for a player’s personal information, so if something comes up online asking you for personal details, you should consider that as a red flag. Also, if the V-Bucks aren’t earned by players in Fortnite or aren’t given by Epic Games, then they’re not real. Considering how quickly these scams are growing, one should be really careful these days.
