A Fortnite Magneto skin is now in the popular battle royale game as part of Chapter 5 Season 3 Battle Pass. With the new season having launched in May, players around the globe have been grinding to upgrade cars, fight new Wasteland Warriors, and explore the island's new biome known as the wasteland.
Back in May, Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 launched with the Fortnite x Fallout crossover, adding the T-60 Power Armor outfits and the Nuka Cola item to the game. However, that's not the only tie-in Fortnite is getting this season. Wastelander Magneto will soon join the battle, so if you're wondering when it will be available, you can check out the details about its release date and how it'll be unlocked when it arrives.
The X-Men are no stranger to Fortnite, with the likes of Mystique, Wolverine and Deadpool being featured in previous seasons' battle passes, while other mutants like Gambit, Cable, and Psylocke have appeared in the item shop over the years. However, the master of magnetism anti-hero, Magneto, hasn't showed up in Fortnite yet, but players won't have to wait for long before he joins the battle royale.
When is Magneto skin coming to Fortnite?
July 2 Update: The Magneto skin can now be unlocked on Fortnite through Battle Pass quests.
The Magneto skin arrived on Fortnite on July 2, 2024 and will remain available for players to unlock until August 16, 2024. This release date was confirmed in the in-game calendar on the main menu screen before loading into a Fortnite game.
Beyond the Wastelander Magneto Fortnite skin, Fortnite is expected to add nine other Magneto-themed cosmetics releasing alongside the X-Men villain. Epic Games hasn't revealed what these will be, but based on previous seasons, it's likely that one of these will be an alternate style for Magneto (presumably a non-wastelander design).
How to unlock Magneto skin in Fortnite
Wastelander Magneto was added as the secret skin of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 Battle Pass. For those unfamiliar, every Fortnite Battle Pass comes with a number of skins players can unlock by leveling up, as well as one special skin that becomes available for players later in the season that they could acquire by completing specific quests themed around the character. Completing these quests will progress players through Magneto's reward page, and there are 10 rewards in total, with the Wastelander Magneto skin being the fifth reward.
Fortnite's secret skins often introduce a brand new mechanic to the game alongside them. In the past, we've seen Korra brought Waterbending to Chapter 5 Season 2, while Solid Snake in Chapter 5 Season 1 brought the Cardboard Box and EMP Stealth Camo. The trailer for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 showed Magneto using the power of Magnetism to manifest a shield and throw debris at foes, so we can expect the game to add this new power alongside Magneto later in Season 3.
