There have been undying rumors that Ryan Gosling would join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though no official announcement has been made about that until today. The Barbie actor has expressed his interest in joining the epic superhero world, hyping fans’ anticipation to see him in a hero suit. However, Emily Blunt recently shut down these claims, stressing Gosling doesn’t want to do it.
In a podcast interview in July 2022, Gosling revealed that he wanted to portray Ghost Rider if he were to play a superhero role. From there, rumors started to swirl that he could be MCU’s Nova, though he already debunked that claim. Adding more fuel to the fire, he said he hoped the Russo Brothers could manifest “this MCU” thing during the press tour for The Gray Man, thinking it “would be cool.”
But in a recent Happy Sad Confused podcast interview with Josh Horowitz, Blunt seemingly crushed fans’ hope to see Gosling as a part of the MCU. “No, he doesn’t. I asked him about it. He doesn’t,” she said in a quick conversation about the actor’s Marvel future.
The host tried to explain to the actress that Gosling himself told him he wanted to play Ghost Rider, but Blunt called the La La Land star a “dork” and warned he would have a beef with him about his superhero dream. Blunt even added she felt like it was a “badge of honor” for the two of them not to play a superhero role in their careers so far, with the number of actors who have joined the MCU and DCEU today.

What MCU role could Ryan Gosling play?
Rumors have it Gosling could play several MCU roles, and the latest is he’s allegedly considered to join Fantastic Four, which Matt Shakman would direct. Insider Jeff Sneider said on The Hot Mic podcast that the 42-year-old actor could portray Mr. Fantastic after John Krasinski, who happens to be Blunt’s husband, took the role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
“Then there's the rumor of Ryan Gosling playing Sentry in the MCU. People tell me he's like a Superman-kind of [character],” Sneider said. “I haven't heard anything like that, obviously. I'd heard some Gosling Fantastic Four stuff.”
Krasinski told The Wrap during the press day for his series Jack Ryan in December 2022 that there are no discussions about his MCU future. That said, some claim his appearance in Doctor Strange is probably the time last he will be seen as Reed Richards despite the plans for Fantastic Four. But with Blunt’s latest revelation, it remains to be seen if Gosling will also be a part of it.
