Netflix finally released the much-anticipated K-drama of the year, Doona! Featuring Suzy and Yang Se-Jon in the lead, fans have high hopes for this series, but it seems to have shattered after it ended on a sad note. So, is there still hope for Lee Doo-Na and Won-Joon? Will their love story continue in Doona! Season 2?
Doona! follows the story of Doo-Na, who leaves the K-pop world to live in isolation in a shared house near a university. In the same home, she meets Won-Joon, a student with whom she falls in love. A love story begins between their meetings and outings, but the unexpected happens. The K-drama is directed by Lee Jeong Hyo, who previously worked on popular shows like Romance is a Bonus Book and Life on Mars and Crash Landing on You.
What happened in Doona! finale? Ending Explained

The series ended with an open-ended story, not revealing if Doo-Na or Won-Joon had broken up. However, one thing is clear: the two parted ways after Doo-Na returned to the K-pop scene as a soloist, while Won-Joon continued his studies and decided to move out of the house to be far away from her.
In Episode 6, Doo-Na was visibly bothered by the issues surrounding her departure from her group, Dream Sweet. Come Episode 8, she suddenly realized that she couldn’t escape her life as an idol, especially after Park In-Wook (Lee Jin-Wook) filed a lawsuit against her that she didn’t know how to fund.
It was also when Won-Joon noticed that In-Wook had again gained control of Doo-Na. In the final episode, Doo-Na and Won-Joon were already estranged. Won-Joon told Doo-Na their romance had to end, with the latter scolding him for giving up so easily like others who had left her when she was still fighting.
Four years passed, and Doo-Na became a successful solo artist while Won-Joon was still studying. They reunited again in the house and shared a drink like they were strangers. Doo-Na went home to an empty apartment. Unable to help herself, she confronted Won-Joon in his dorm and asked him to apologize for leaving her and tell her he regretted his decision.
Won-Joon did just that and confirmed he still loved her. As time passed, Won-Joon passed the civil service exam while Doo-Na’s career was still thriving. Doona! ended with them both in a shopping center in Japan, but they never saw each other. Doo-Na looked behind her as Won-Joon walked away.
Will there be Doona! Season 2?
The finale has left fans with several questions. Did the two break up for good despite Won-Joon’s confession? Why are they both in Japan? Are they only keeping their romance a secret for Doo-Na’s career?
Doona! made it into multiple tonp ten lists around the world, but it has yet to make it into the United States top ten chart.
So far, there are no words yet if there will be Doona! Season 2. Netflix has yet to announce if there will be a season renewal. But by the looks of it, the second season may not be happening. Despite the open-ended ending, the series has wrapped up the characters’ storylines, with Doo-Na and Won-Joon moving on from each other in that shopping center scene as they made their separate ways. That said, fans have to accept their love story has ended.
