With its nearing release date, Netflix has released an early look at Park Hyung-sik and Park Shin-hye’s upcoming K-drama series Doctor Slump. These two high school rivals have become the best in their professions as a famous plastic surgeon and an anesthesiologist. But not everything about their work means success and fame, as the new trailer shows the dark sides of their lives.

The Doctor Slump preview begins with a tarp congratulating Hyung-sik as he passes the mock exams. As a new kid is about to join their class, Shin-hye comes in, and the two quickly look at each other. This means the school will have two top students, starting a war between them. As a montage of scenes from their high school lives begins, showing their rivalry, the scene shifts to Hyung-sik receiving the Minister of Health and Welfare Award. But a plastic surgery procedure takes a tragic turn, with the patient bleeding to death, resulting in a huge scandal that brings his career to a downward spiral.

The trailer then focuses on Shin-hye. As her mom expects a lot from her, looking forward to seeing her as a professor, she endures everything and works and studies at the same time. These things take a toll on her, as she’s later diagnosed with depression. From a national prodigy, she becomes unemployed and a nobody after falling into burnout and deciding to resign.

Amid these worst times of their lives, Hyung-sik and Shin-hye meet each other again. But despite their distaste for each other, they find comfort in one another. From there, they become friends, and their relationship eventually turns into a romance.
