One of the highly anticipated K-drama series releasing this month is Doctor Slump. Aside from its rom-com story about two former rivals, it will also see the return of Park Shin-hye on the small screen after 2021’s Sijipeuseu: The Myth. JTBC has now released new character visuals, showing how exhausted its four leads are while revealing their roles.

The four Doctor Slump character posters start with Park Hyung-sik, who will play Yeo Jung-woo, a known plastic surgeon of the stars. From being at the top of his class, he has become one of the best doctors in the country, thanks to his incredible skills. However, things suddenly go downward spiral after a medical mishap.

Next is Park Shin-hye as Nam Ha-neul. She’s an anesthesiologist who’s both brilliant and hard-working but is feeling burnout. Ha-neul has been a workaholic, from a student to a doctor, and she forgets how to relax and have fun. But as her life starts falling apart, she finally decides to change her ways.

Yoon Bak also joins Doctor Slump as Bin Dae-young, a proud plastic surgeon who loves to brag about everything. With his attitude, he feels he’s in a tight competition against his former college classmate, Jung-woo. But despite that, he’s also the only one who understands him better.

Lastly, Gong Sung-ha will be seen in the new series as Lee Hong-ran, Ha-neul’s best friend who’s also an anesthesiologist. The two have known each other since college. She will then get involved with Dae-young, and despite their big differences, they’re also similar in some ways.

JTBC has also released a new key visual for Doctor Slump, featuring Park Shin-hye, Park Hyung-sik, Yoon Bak, and Gong Sung-ha. The four seem to be in a race as the caption reads, “In everyone’s life, there comes a moment when [your life] needs CPR.”

What is Doctor Slump about?

Directed by Oh Hyun-jong and written by Baek Sun-woo, Doctor Slump follows the story of Nam Ha-neul and Yeo Jung-woo, who had a strong rivalry in high school. At the time, Jung-woo topped the class and went on to study at the best medical school in the country. By that, he has become one of the most renowned plastic surgeons, but things are about to change when a mysterious medical accident happens.

During the darkest time of his life, he meets Ha-neul again. The latter is already an anesthesiologist whose life has always been about work and studying. As she finally realizes how sad her life is, she starts to make a change. Seeing Jung-woo during this change, they find comfort with each other, which eventually results in a romantic relationship.

You can read the synopsis below:

In high school, Yeo Jung Woo and Nam Ha Neul were academic rivals waging a fierce battle to be first in their class. However, when they meet again as adults, their relationship blossoms into romance.

Talking about the series, its production team told Naver (translated by Soompi) that the reunion of Ha-neul and Jung-woo and the meeting of Dae-young and Hong-ran will connect their lives in special ways. “The story of these doctors, which will be more relatable and comforting because it’s realistic, will make your heart flutter and have you smiling along,” they said.
