JTBC and Netflix are now gearing up for the upcoming release of Park Shin-hye and Park Hyung-sik’s new K-drama series, Doctor Slump. But instead of preview stills and trailers, the network has dropped behind-the-scenes photos showing the two lead stars’ incredible chemistry offscreen that fans will soon see play out on TV.
The first Doctor Slump BTS photo shows Hyung-sik on the phone, seemingly waiting for his scenes while director Oh Hyun-jong is on the side. In the series, he will play the role of Yeo Jung-woo, a famous plastic surgeon of the stars whose career has suddenly spiraled downward after a strange medical accident.
Another image features Shin-hye immersing herself in her character while sitting on a chair and holding a pen and notes. The actress gives all her emotion as she portrays Nam Ha-neul, an anesthesiologist who feels burned out by her work and studies.
For the last snap, the two are seen together, posing with finger hearts as they straightly look at the camera. The pair exudes unbelievable charm as they show their sweetest smiles. A rep from the series said, via Naver (as translated by Soompi), that Hyung-sik and Shin-hye, who are known for being the masters of rom-com, will unveil great acting in Doctor Slump, and fans can expect a chemistry that is “beyond expectations.”
Park Shin-hye and Park Hyung-sik Discuss Reunion in Doctor Slump After 11 Years
For fans who are not familiar, Shin-hye and Hyung-sik worked together in the hit K-drama series Heirs and would be reuniting in Doctor Slump after 11 years. In an interview for the cover of Elle Korea (via Soompi), Shin-hye revealed that Hyung-sik’s personality is still as “great as ever,” just like when they first worked together.
“He’s good at accepting other people’s opinions, so I felt really comfortable working together with him,” she said.
Alternatively, Hyung-sik admitted that she only properly saw Shin-hye’s acting this time after being too busy when they did Heirs together. Aside from being impressed, he revealed he also learned a lot from her.
“She’s able to suddenly whip out emotions as if she’d pressed a button, but nothing feels mechanical about it in the least,” he explained.
What is Doctor Slump about?
Doctor Slump follows the story of two former high school rivals, Yeo Jung-woo and Nam Ha-neul, who later reunite during the darkest period of their lives. Surprisingly, they find comfort in each other and from there, a romantic relationship is about to begin.
