Doctor Elise Anime Trailer Reveals Cast, Crew & Official Release Date

The story of Doctor Elise is about to hit the small screen next year!

A South Korean web novel is now taking the anime scene. Yuin’s Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp is about to hit the small screen, produced by Maho Film. Officially announced on February 28, 2023, the anime is now taking shape, and its official trailer has been revealed. Aside from giving a glimpse of the lead star, Elise’s life story, the preview also shows major details about the series, from the cast to the crew and its official release date. The Doctor Elise preview begins with Elise talking about her first life, believing she has a happy future waiting for her. However, the person she loves doesn’t love her, so she lives her second life as Aoi Takamoto, a doctor. The scene features her life as a physician, as she believes saving lives will atone for the sins she has done. However, she’s later surprised that she has returned to Elise’s body again, as the opening theme, believer by Elise (Yui Ishikawa) herself, plays in the background.

Elise also wants to live as a doctor in the new world she's in to save lives with her medical knowledge. As something tragic happens, she does the impossible. Linden, the heir to the Romanov throne, then takes the scene, asking her for a dance, while the ending theme, Listen by Maju Arai, plays. She’s also seen with Graham, a Teresa Hospital doctor, who seems interested in her.

What is Doctor Elise about?

Doctor Elise follows the story of Elise, an evil empress who becomes Aoi Takamoto in her future life. But as she’s about to meet her death, she has returned to her past life as Elise again. Armed with her knowledge as a master surgeon, she sees this as her chance to heal her past relationships and the ailing empire, though her fate may have the opportunity to repeat itself.

Based on the web novel of the same name by Yuin, it started its serialization in Kakao's KakaoPage service from December 2015 to April 2016. It was then adapted into manhwa with illustrations by Mini and was once again serialized in KakaoPage from September 2017 to February 2021. Later, an anime adaptation by Maho Film was announced.
