After a long wait, Diablo 4 Season 1 is finally out and well underway. The game was released alongside a massive patch that Blizzard themselves said will “never again” happen because of the disappointment that players expressed to the nerfs that this patch introduced.
There is one other topic of disappointment for players in the game, which is the nature of the Season 1 Battle Pass. Sticking to the traditional, standard live service structure, the feature allows Diablo 4 players to pay real money in order to get their hands on a season-long Battle Pass full of cosmetics and rewards.

Unfortunately, many players have claimed that the pass has a “malicious design” because of its nature. In addition to that, they are also calling it “predatory” now. A Diablo 4 player with the username jessewperez1 took to Reddit and said, “Why 666 coins in the Battle Pass was mathematically the scummiest amount Blizzard could have given.”
They also further backed up this statement with a detailed breakdown and explanation of Blizzard Entertainment’s decision-making process and why it extends far beyond the novelty of the pass offering 666 coins. You can see their entire statement below:
They further mentioned that they would love it if someone from Blizzard actually discussed the Battle Pass and their “predatory” mechanics at any of these “fireside chats.” Many players agreed with the Reddit user, commenting on the post. One Diablo 4 player even offered an easy fix that was greatly approved by other players as well, which is, “Easy fix: Don’t buy any Battle Passes?! You’re welcome.”
Seeing the situation, the decision is entirely in the hands of the players themselves. They can either let this issue slide, or they can opt out of the pass entirely. However, the development team has been pretty active, making changes to the game and fixing problems that are being highlighted by the Diablo 4 community. And we hope they'll do the same with this Battle Pass problem.
Diablo 4 is available to play on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
