The full trailer for Deadpool 3, officially titled Deadpool & Wolverine, was finally released today, teasing the epic reunion of the Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) and the adamantium clawed Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). The two actors first shared the screen as Deadpool and Wolverine in 2009's non-canon X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and they will finally reprise their roles in a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. But they're not the only ones returning in the highly-anticipated threequel. The trailer confirmed the return of a fan-favorite character from one of 20th Century Fox's X-Men movies.
About three-quarters of the way through the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, Aaron Stanford's Pyro shows up as one of the presumed leaders of "The Resistance" Wade Wilson will come in contact throughout the film. Pyro's costume looks similar to most of the henchmen's outfits seen in the trailer, suggesting their role as the movie's primary antagonists.
Stanford played John Allerdyce's Pyro in 2003's X2 and 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand. The actor recently addressed his then-potential MCU return while promoting his 2023 film Finestkind. Although he mentioned that he had fun during the production of his prior X-Men films, Standford didn't provide a definitive answer, telling The Direct that he'd "have to think about it."
Who else will return in Deadpool & Wolverine?
Along with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, other characters from the previous Deadpool movies are confirmed to reprise their roles, including Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Rob Delaney as Peter. Set photos also revealed that Toad and Sabretooth will return in the film. We'll likely see some surprising appearances of characters from 20th Century Fox's X-Men movies, but we'll have to wait until the movie comes out in July.
Directed by Shawn Levy from a script co-written by Reynolds, Deadpool and Deadpool 2 writers Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese and Zeb Wells (The Marvels), Deadpool 3 is scheduled to release in theaters on July 26, 2024.
