Deadpool & Wolverine Star Ryan Reynolds Continually Campaigns for Wesley Snipes' Return as Blade

Once again, Ryan Reynolds has shown his interest in Wesley Snipes having a Blade send-off movie similar to Logan.

Ryan Reynolds has been showing his support for Wesley Snipes after the latter made a triumphant return as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine. Twenty-one years after David S. Goyer’s 2004 Blade: Trinity, the fan-favorite daywalker is once again seen on the big screen, helping Deadpool (Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) face Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin) and her army in the Void. As this renews interest in the half-mortal, half-immortal vampire, Reynolds continues campaigning for Snipes’ return as Blade.

It has been almost a month since Deadpool & Wolverine premiered, but many, including Reynolds himself, still can’t move on from the surprising cameos and plot twists the film features. In an Instagram post, the Canadian actor shared several behind-the-scenes photos and recalled the viewers’ reactions the moment Snipes stepped onto the scene as Blade, once again proving the legacy he had left behind.

“The reaction when @realwesleysnipes enters the movie is the most intense thing I’ve heard in a theater,” he wrote. “People screaming with uninhibited joy and love is also the sound of a legacy.”

This isn’t the first time Reynolds wants Snipes to have a Blade movie similar to Wolverine’s 2017 send-off film Logan, and he once again asks for more of Eric Brooks. He even begs Marvel Studios to hear his cry and give the “Marvel Daddy” a chance.

“More Blade please,” he continued. “A Logan-style send off, specifically.”

Snipes’ Blade is just one of many surprising cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine. However, he didn’t just make a brief appearance; he played a supporting role alongside Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, Dafne Keen’s X-23, Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm / Human Torch, and Channing Tatum’s Gambit to form the Resistance, a group of heroes banished to the Void who rebel against Cassandra’s rule.

Will Marvel Studios give Wesley Snipes a new Blade movie?

Despite the clamor for Snipes’ return in his own Blade movie, Marvel Studios has remained mum about it. It’s good to note that it has its own plan for a Blade reboot, with Mahershala Ali in the lead. However, as the new film has been in development hell since it was announced in 2019, giving Snipes a chance to return once more may help the Blade franchise.

Snipes can be a part of that reboot to capitalize on the renewed interest in his character, and he may pass the torch to Ali to continue his legacy. Though Blade 4 may not happen, Snipes may return to the MCU again before the Multiverse Saga ends. He may make an appearance in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, where numerous MCU heroes are expected to appear.

Though it remains to be seen if a send-off film for Snipes’ Blade will happen, Deadpool & Wolverine may not be the last time fans see him. With the overwhelming acceptance and positive reaction to his return, he may grace the big or small screen again.
