While everyone is waiting for Stranger Things Season 5, fans are about to see a different Millie Bobby Brown in the upcoming Netflix dark fantasy movie Damsel. This time, she won’t be fighting the Demogorgons in the Upside Down or the criminals in Enola Holmes, but a fire-breathing dragon using her sword. Brown will defy the traditional fairy tale norm and prove she’s no damsel in distress in the film’s new trailer as she will save herself from this beast and change a story that no princess in this royal kingdom has dared to do so.
You can see the preview below:
The almost three-minute Damsel trailer starts with Brown, playing the role of Elodie, as she gets set to meet a prince she will marry. But despite the promise to live happily on her own ever after, Angela Bassett, who plays her stepmother, confesses that she doesn’t trust the royal family. “They may be royalty, but that doesn’t make them good people,” she says.
As her wedding ceremony begins, the queen wounds her hand while the prince carries her, not knowing it’s a trap and she’ll be used as a sacrifice and thrown into the depths of a cave where a dragon lives. “What happened to you,” she asks as she sees a bird burning alive.
Later, Robin Wright narrates that Brown has joined a line of women who have helped to build the kingdom, calling the sacrifice a tradition that happens every generation and goes back centuries. Now, Brown has inherited this practice and faced the huge beast. But that doesn’t intimidate Brown, as she swears to escape and stop this ritual that has stolen a lot of innocent women’s lives. From there, a series of action-packed scenes begin, while Brown promises to end the kingdom’s story.
