Kim Yoo-jung has proven her significance in the K-drama world after starting acting in 2003. From her humble beginnings as a child model at the age of four, she quickly rose to prominence, becoming one of Korea's most sought-after child actresses. Now, at 24 years old, she continues to captivate viewers with her stunning looks and exceptional acting skills. Following her performance as Do Doo-hee in My Demon alongside Song Kang, she’s set to bring laughter and joy in the new Netflix K-drama Chicken Nugget. In this series, she’s set to transform into a piece of fried chicken, a peculiar role she's excited to share her experience about.

Netflix recently hosted a press conference for Chicken Nugget in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, giving the series’ cast members a chance to discuss their roles and delve deeper into this intriguing comic mystery chase drama. At the event, Yoo-jung shared her enthusiasm about portraying Choi Min-ah, the daughter of Choi Seon-man (Ryu Seung-ryong), who mysteriously transforms into a chicken nugget after entering a bewildering purple machine.

With the show’s comical concept, the actress revealed (via Pinkvilla) that she had fun doing it, making her feel like she was only “going out to play” during its production. However, she admitted to being nervous about portraying her role, considering she was only a special guest star who would appear in a few scenes.

Sure, Yoo-jung will only have a minor role in Chicken Nugget after transforming into a piece of food. However, she will have a major part in the story, making her want her portrayal of Min-ah to be remarkable.

Meanwhile, talking about the project, the 20th Century Girl star revealed (via AllKpop) that she was eager to be part of its production after reading the script. “The storyline brought a smile to my face, and I couldn't wait to dive in,” she said. “It's an honor to work with director Lee Byung Hun, whose previous works I've admired.”

At the same event, Seung-ryong and Ahn Jae-hong revealed what made them do Chicken Nugget. Just like Yoo-jung, Seung-ryong, one of the most versatile actors in Korean film and television, revealed the show’s storyline also caught his interest, especially its unique concept.

“The intriguing premise captured my interest, prompting me to join the project,” he said.

Jae-hong shared the same sentiment, calling its story like no other. He found it to stimulate his imagination due to its interesting narrative that would surely interest fans.

“The story was unlike anything I had encountered before, offering a fresh and exciting experience,” he added. “I likened it to the joy of indulging in fried chicken – once you start, you can't stop.”

 

What is Chicken Nugget about?

Based on the Korean webtoon of the same title by Park Ji-dok, Chicken Nugget tells the story of the quest of a loving father, Seong-man, to bring his daughter, Min-ah, back into her human form after turning into a fried tender. With the help of his apprentice, Ko Baek-joong, who also happens to be Min-ah’s admirer, they’re about to learn more mysterious secrets about the purple machine.
