Star Wars Jedi 3 Reportedly Targets 2027 — and the Reveal Could Come This Year

A Star Wars insider claims the third entry in Respawn's Jedi series is coming next year — and that its marketing campaign could kick off before The Game Awards in December. If true, Cal Kestis' return is a matter of months away from its first reveal, not years.

The claims come from the leaker FivesWalker, who posted on X on September 30. Asked about the unannounced sequel, FivesWalker wrote: "Yes, Jedi 3 will be next year. Marketing will start to occur sooner than you think. I would bet even before TGA. Very exciting time for SW games." In a separate reply about the long-troubled Knights of the Old Republic remake, the leaker added that it is "def" still being made and could arrive in "late 27 or early 28."

Neither EA, Respawn Entertainment, nor Lucasfilm Games has confirmed any of this, so it should be treated as an unverified rumor for now. But the pieces fit the known timeline uncomfortably well. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order launched in 2019, followed by Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in April 2023 — roughly a four-year development cycle each. A 2027 launch would give Respawn about four and a half years on the third game, right in line with the series' established rhythm.

There is also precedent for a Game Awards reveal. Respawn unveiled Jedi: Survivor with a gameplay trailer and release date at The Game Awards in 2022. This year's ceremony takes place on December 10, and FivesWalker's claim suggests marketing could begin even earlier — a teaser, a social media post, or a press release in the coming weeks rather than a full trailer on the night itself.

The timing would carry symbolic weight, too. May 25, 2027 marks the 50th anniversary of the original Star Wars theatrical release, making next year the franchise's biggest milestone year in decades. Launching the final chapter of Cal Kestis' trilogy — which EA confirmed in September 2024 will conclude his story — during the anniversary year would be a statement.

Details on the game itself remain thin. EA has not announced a title, release window, or platforms. A previous rumor from insider Tom Henderson suggested the sequel would feature an older Cal Kestis, and it has been reported that series director Stig Asmussen will not return for the third installment.

The Knights of the Old Republic remake claim is the murkier half of the rumor. The project was announced in 2021, lost original developer Aspyr shortly after, and moved to Saber Interactive, with Mad Head Games later reported to be involved. Saber Interactive chief business officer Steve Allison has only said publicly that the remake is hopefully part of the company's 2028 lineup — making FivesWalker's late-2027-to-early-2028 window slightly more optimistic than anything on the record.

What is undeniable is that Star Wars gaming is on a hot streak. Star Wars Zero Company earned some of the strongest reviews for a Star Wars title in years, and Star Wars: Galactic Racer followed with a warm reception of its own. With Star Wars Eclipse still in development at Quantic Dream and Arcanaut Studios working on the newly announced RPG Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, the galaxy is crowded — and a Jedi 3 reveal would be its biggest headline yet.

Until EA or Respawn speaks, though, this remains one leaker's word against silence. The next few weeks will show whether FivesWalker's bet pays off.
