Butareba: The Story of a Man Turned into a Pig will release its final episode in a few weeks after broadcasting issues delayed the anime's schedule.

Butareba: The Story of a Man Turned into a Pig, the anime adaptation of Takuma Sakai's Heat the Pig Liver (Buta no Liver wa Kanetsu Shiro) light novel series, has announced on Friday that the show's 12th and final episode will premiere on February 5, 2024. A new visual was released along with the announcement, and it features the anime's two main characters: the pig protagonist and Jess.

The final episode of Butareba: The Story of a Man Turned into a Pig was delayed until after January 2024, due to programming issues after the delay of Episode 9. The show's ninth episode was delayed to December 9 from its original December 2 broadcast schedule, to maintain quality.

Project No. 9 (Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki, My Tiny Senpai) animated the series that started airing in October 2023. The pig is being voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Inosuke in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Kirito in Sword Art Online), while Tomori Kusunoki (Makima in Chainsaw Man) is voicing the lead female character Jess.

The isekai anime is being directed by Masayuki Takahashi (Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon) with series composition by Deko Akao, character designs by Ryo Hirata and music by MAYUKO (Ranking of Kings) and Kenichiro Suehiro.


What is Butareba: The Story of a Man Turned Into a Pig about?

Buta no Liver wa Kanetsu Shiro (豚のレバーは加熱しろ, Butareba -The Story of a Man Turned Into a Pig- ) is based on the light novel series written by Takuma Sakai and illustrated by Asagi Tōsaka. It began serialization in 2020. Seven volumes of the isekai series have been published by ASCII Media Works under the company's Dengeki Bunko imprint since March 2020. A manga adaptation with art by Minami was also released, and it has been serialized in ASCII Media Works' seinen manga magazine Dengeki Maoh since August 2020, and it has been collected in four volumes.

Crunchyroll shared an official synopsis of Butareba: The Story of a Man Turned Into a Pig:

The story follows an unappealing otaku who awakens in the body of a pig after he passes out while eating raw pig liver. Pig finds himself in the company of Jess, an innocent girl who can read people's minds, and she accepts him despite his boorish thoughts...although she does plan to eat him. When Jess is in danger of succumbing to a dark destiny, can Pig save her using only his quick wits, wisdom, and refined sense of smell?
