Bungie has rolled out an early tweak to Marathon's LUX currency bundles, increasing the value of the $10 option and issuing retroactive credits to address player concerns in the game's first week.

As announced in an article on X by the Marathon Development Team, the studio is making targeted improvements to the LUX bundles, the premium currency used for cosmetic purchases. "In the near future, we're making an adjustment to the amount of LUX you get for the $10 (or regional equivalent) LUX bundle to grant 1120 LUX (1000 + 120), up from 1100 LUX (1000 + 100)," the post stated. It further explained, "As a part of this whole process, we'll be crediting 20 LUX to players for each $10 LUX bundle they purchased before this change occurred." This retroactive credit ensures that early adopters aren't left behind, providing a small but meaningful gesture to those who invested in the game's ecosystem right from the start.

Beyond the microtransaction refinements, Bungie is preparing a software update expected to roll out sometime in the following week. Although complete patch notes will only be available once the update is live, the team has shared previews of several enhancements designed to improve gameplay flow and resource availability.

Among these, the range at which objective navigation markers become visible has been doubled, extending from 10 meters to 20 meters to aid players in orienting themselves more effectively during intense matches. Additionally, the spawn frequency for essential items like Medical Cabinets and Munitions Crates has been raised specifically on the Perimeter map, potentially easing the scramble for health and ammunition in high-stakes encounters. Finally, the default ammunition loadouts in the no-cost Sponsored Kits for the MIDA, CyberAcme, and Arachne weapons have been amplified, giving players a stronger starting position without needing to spend extra resources.

These updates build on Marathon's core design as a player-versus-player-versus-environment (PvPvE) extraction shooter, where teams of Runners compete to gather artifacts and escape while fending off AI threats and rival groups. Reviving Bungie's classic 1990s sci-fi series, the modern iteration emphasizes tactical gameplay, customizable loadouts, and a persistent world where every run contributes to broader progression. Since its release on March 5, 2026, the game has drawn attention for its atmospheric setting on the colonized planet of Tau Ceti IV, complete with retro-futuristic aesthetics and proximity chat that adds layers of immersion and strategy. Bungie's history with live-service titles like Destiny informs this approach, where ongoing tweaks are essential to maintaining balance and engagement in a competitive multiplayer landscape.

The studio has also acknowledged broader concerns regarding the in-game store. "We've seen the rest of your feedback about Marathon's purchasable cosmetics," the developers noted. "We want to ensure that when you spend in Marathon you feel like you are getting great value and discussing ways to improve this experience." This commitment suggests that further iterations could be on the horizon, potentially including more generous bundles or refined pricing structures to align with player expectations.

With these swift post-launch adjustments, Bungie demonstrates a responsive approach to shaping Marathon amid its launch-week momentum on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam, where full cross-play and cross-save keep Runners connected across platforms regardless of where they drop in.
