Fans finally have an explanation as to why they haven’t seen Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson, in the MCU since Avengers: Endgame. After Thanos’ defeat and the Blip that brought the universe back to its original state, Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, disappeared and has only been seen in a handful of cameos.
In Avengers: Endgame, Carol Danvers answered Nick Fury’s distress call and rushed to assist Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in destroying Thanos. She was a member of the cavalry in the Battle of Earth after the Avengers returned the Infinity Stones and reversed the snap.

However, now we finally know that Captain Marvel is busy teaming up with WandaVision's Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel in a non-cameo role in The Marvels. Marvel shared a two-minute trailer of the show back in April, giving us a look at the power trio in action.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Larson explained why her character decided to abandon Earth after Avengers: Endgame. Danvers' in-universe reason for visiting hundreds of other planets was to save them from threats, but fans have pointed out that her immense powers might have prevented an entire host of problems for her fellow Avengers.
Larson said, "The way I was able to tap into it and understand it is the concept that Carol kind of became a workaholic, and she lost touch with her heart and with family and friends. That's certainly something I can relate to."

Since the release of Avengers: Endgame, quite a lot has taken place in the MCU. However, Marvel clearly needed an excuse to keep Captain Marvel from overcoming every other hero's challenge. This includes the world-ending Westview destruction of WandaVision, the world-ending terrorist group in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the world-ending alien attack in Eternals, and so much more.
Fans can once again welcome Captain Marvel on screen with the release of The Marvels on November 10, 2023.
