As announced earlier this year during the Jump Festa 2023 stage, Blue Exorcist is getting a new TV anime project,and it's titled Shimane Illuminati Saga. At Aniplex Online Fest 2023 this weekend, the production team revealed a new trailer and key visual, along with the January 2024 premiere date. The Shimane Illuminati Saga will be Season 3 of the dark fantasy anime series.

There are two additional arcs subsequent to the conclusion of the Kyoto Impure Arc (Season 2) and preceding the Shimane Illuminati Saga, which covers Chapters 50-64. These arcs are titled Terror of the Kraken and Academy Seven Wonders.

What is Blue Exorcist about?
Blue Exorcist is a dark fantasy anime based on the manga series written and illustrated by Kazue Kato, which began serailization in Jump Square magazine in 2009. Blue Exorcist Season 1 premiered in the Spring of 2011, but it featured an anime original final arc (Episodes 16-25). In 2012, a Blue Exorcist feature film was released, and the second season, titled Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga, aired from January to March 2017. Season 2 ignored the anime-only arc from the prequel and continued to adapt the storyline of the manga series.
There's also a side-story titled Blue Exorcist: Kuro’s Trip Away From Home and two-episode OVA from the second season. The entire anime franchise was animated by A-1 Pictures.

Raised by Father Fujimoto, a famous exorcist, Rin Okumura never knew his real father. One day a fateful argument with Father Fujimoto forces Rin to face a terrible truth–the blood of the demon lord Satan runs in Rin’s veins! Rin swears to defeat Satan, but doing that means entering the mysterious True Cross Academy and becoming an exorcist himself. Can Rin fight demons and keep his infernal bloodline a secret? It won’t be easy, especially when drawing his father’s sword releases the demonic power within him!
Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga doesn't have a specific premiere date, but expect the production team to announce it as we get closer to the Winter 2024 anime season.
