After Wakanda Forever, Black Panther’s story continues in an animated series this time. As many await for Black Panther 3, though Marvel Studios has yet to confirm the sequel, the company’s executive Brad Winderbaum announced the coming of Eyes of Wakanda in December 2023 while promoting What If…? Season 2. Now, three months after that announcement, Winderbaum drops an important update, and it involves its connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In an interview with Men’s Health to talk about the recently released X-Men '97, Marvel’s head of streaming, animation, and television revealed that Eyes of Wakanda would be canon to the MCU. To be exact, it would perfectly fit into the Sacred Timeline.
“We're exploring so many amazing avenues on the animated side,” he said. “Eyes of Wakanda, more than any other show, fits right into our sacred MCU timeline continuity.”
Winderbaum also revealed the men working behind Eyes of Wakanda, with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler as one of its executive producers and Todd Harris as its director. And to complete his big revelations, he teased its “cool” storyline, which would be about Wakanda’s history and mythology.
“It's about Wakandan history and mythology, and it's really cool,” he continued. “It looks amazing. And it feels like, ‘Okay, I'm getting an animated look into the MCU.’”

What is Eyes of Wakanda about?
Eyes of Wakanda is set as Marvel’s 25th TV series and the third animated series in the MCU. It’s also part of MCU’s Phase Five, being its 11th installment. It will follow the previous Black Panthers and Dora Milaje members looking after the vibranium artifacts. So, it may not involve Shuri and company this time. As Winderbaum said, it will feature Wakandan history as the warriors travel the world to find the vibranium artifacts.
You can read the synopsis below:
In an interview with Comicbook, Winderbaum revealed that Marvel is producing Eyes of Wakanda in collaboration with Proximity Media. Harris pitched the story to Ryan and introduced it to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Winderbaum, who decided to do it. Comic book writer and podcaster Marc Bernardin wrote two episodes of it.
So far, there are no words on when Eyes of Wakanda will be released, but it's set to stream on Disney+. By the looks of it, Marvel will continue to produce more animated series after What If…? and X-Men '97. With the Black Panther series' connection to the MCU, fans must see how this will fit into the canon.
