Earlier this year, the penultimate anime episode of Attack on Titan was released on the small screen, setting the stage for Studio MAPPA's epic finale later this fall. Based on Hajime Isayama's best-selling manga series, "The Final Chapters" of the anime adaptation features the protagonist-turned-villain, Eren Jaeger, lead the Rumbling to rampage the planet, annihilating a vast percentage of the world's population. Mikasa, Armin, and the rest of the Scout Regiments were able to make their way to their former friend, and the final showdown is about to begin when Part 2 hits this fall.
The final season of Attack on TItan focused on the conflict between Eldians and Marleyans as allegiances were broken and new alliances were forged in the heat of an ever-changing world. Eren decided to acquire the power of the Founding Titan because he believes that it's the only way to save his people, and his friends. With Ymir's power not at his control, Eren can command an army of Colossal Titans that can wipe out a huge percentage of the world's population. The final episode doesn't have a release date yet, but expect a chaotic finale with some major deaths to take place if the anime continues to adapt its source material.
But before we finally say our farewells to one of the greatest anime shows of all time, fans may want to enjoy the penultimate episode once again as Cartoon Network recently announced that Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters Part 1 will be airing on the cable channel's special block.

Will Hajime Isayama create a sequel to Attack on Titan?
Series creator Hajime Isayama has made it clear that he is not planning to create a sequel for Attack on Titan, so expect Part 2 of the The Final Chapters coming this fall to be the last of the anime series.
However, the legendary mangaka has stated that he's willing to create a new side story centered on Levi's earlier days before he became a badass captain for the Survey Corps. In an interview with Crunchyroll earlier this year, Isayama said that he has a story in mind, but he's uncertain whether he'll end up writing it.
"Regarding Levi, I actually have something in my mind, but at the same time, I don't know if I will be able to write that or not. For example, I have imagined what the story of Levi would be in my mind, but at the same time, whether I am able to output it, that's a whole other story because writing a manga is a really difficult task for me," he said.
