Jennifer Lopez is about to begin her new epic adventure in the galaxy in the upcoming sci-fi movie, Atlas. After giving a glimpse of the multi-hyphenate star suiting up for a space battle in a teaser in March, Netflix has now dropped the official trailer for the film. J. Lo is ready to start a new mission to hunt Simu Liu’s AI named Harlan, who, aside from being a terrorist, has a surprising connection to her character.
You can see the preview below:
The Atlas trailer starts by showing the movie’s futuristic world, with flying vehicles around the city. An AI then wakes up Lopez’s Atlas Shepherd. The next scene shows Atlas being introduced as an agent who has spent her life hunting the artificial intelligence known as Harlan, who happens to be Atlas’ brother after being created by her mother. Harlan was originally built to advance humanity. However, the opposite happens, as he nearly ended it.
“If you wanna try to capture Harlan, you need me on that mission,” Atlas says. From there, the fight begins. The AI attacks Atlas' office, and she gears up to pilot her mecha named Smith. Atlas and Smith end up in a deserted world. As she gets used to using her “computer program Smith,” Atlas realizes they don’t have much time as Harlan is already planning an attack. But considering Atlas’ history with AI, she doesn’t even trust Smith. However, Smith is her only hope, forming an alliance between the two to battle Harlan and his AI army.
Netflix has also dropped a new visual for Atlas, focusing on Lopez as she gears up for a wild adventure in space. Smith looms behind her as they’re about to save humanity together from the threat of the AI.
