DC’s Atlantis is finally ready to return to the big screens in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Warner Bros. Pictures and DC have recently shared the first trailer for the long-awaited movie that is set to release sometime later this year. This trailer lets fans know what they can expect from Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and the most recent journey that he’s going to embark upon. Since the movie was announced, many have been waiting to see some footage from The Lost Kingdom.

They did get a couple of glimpses during DC FanDome 2021 as well as the 2022 “Year of Heroes” epic teaser but it wasn’t enough. The first Aquaman movie was released back in 2018, so fans are definitely excited for the release of this one after so long. However, now you can get an official look at the movie from the trailer of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom below:

In the trailer, we get a look at the titular hero, his mother Atlanta, the villain Black Manta, along with some others. Arthur, also known as Aquaman, can be seen getting acquainted with his half-brother Orm, and they join forces to take down Manta. In the trailer, Orm seems to be a suspicious character since he can be heard saying, "I'm gonna kill Aquaman and destroy everything he holds dear." So, we know who not to trust! He also adds, "I'm gonna murder his family ... burn his kingdom to ash."

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Story

In Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, an ancient power is set free, due to which, Aquaman is forced to forge an alliance with an unlikely ally in order to protect Atlantis as well as the world from destruction and devastation. In the movie, Jason Momoa will play the role of Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Randall Park as Stephen Shin, Patrick Wilson as Orm, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.

Not only this but Jani Zhao will play the role of a new character Stingray, Indya Moore will play Karshon, and Vincent Regan will play Atlan, who was previously played by Graham McTavish in 2018’s Aquaman. Pilou Asbaek will also be joining the cast of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in a mystery role. The movie’s director is James Wan and the writer is David Leslie Johnson McGoldrick. James Wan, the movie’s producer, claimed that the sequel will have a more serious story along with a few horror elements.

During an interview with ComicBook.com last year, the director Wan said, "Well, Aquaman – even the first film – has always been a very standalone film. That was always our approach: that it kind of lives in its own world, and that's kind of how we've approached The Lost Kingdom as well. You know, people love Jason Momoa; people love him playing this role; and people love the action visuals of this space and this world. And that's what we're doing: we're taking it to the next level and we are still expanding – and just any fans of Aquaman the character, that love Black Manta, this is the next level and I'm very excited to finally put out there to show them what we've been working on all these years."
