The long wait is over after Lucasfilm finally reveals that Ahsoka Season 2 is in development. The news comes after the production company announced the coming of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie. And to tease fans of what’s to come, the series creator Dave Filoni drops a new update, showing a concept art featuring Ahsoka Tano herself.
Star Wars’ official website showed Filoni’s sketch showing Ahsoka and her apprentice, Sabine Wren, atop The Statue of the Father from the first season. Fans who have seen the premiere season finale will remember the statues of the Mortis gods on Pesridea after Baylan Skoll stood there. This leads to several theories about what may happen next in Ahsoka Season 2.
In addition, the concept art also features the words “The story continues,” a confirmation that fans have been waiting for since the first season ended in October 2023. You can see Filoni’s sketch below:
The Theories Surrounding Davi Filoni’s Concept Art for Ahsoka Season 2
As Ahsoka and Sabine are now in the same place where Baylan was in the first season finale, it seems to hint that the two are following the Force-wielding mercenary’s trail to know more about his journey in Ahsoka Season 2. Fans started speculating about Baylan’s ending, and whether his story would continue to be explored after the premiere season ended, and Filoni’s concept art renewed these talks.
For starters, Baylan’s scene at The Statue of the Father marked the final performance of the character’s actor, Ray Stevenson, after his death in May 2023. That said, his role’s future remains uncertain, resulting in a debate over whether there should be a recasting or there could be an alternative way to continue his journey. Though Lucasfilm has resisted recasting, it seems it’s the only way to continue Baylan’s story.
What to Expect from Ahsoka Season 2
The first season ended with several loose ends that needed to be tied up. Ezra and Thrawn are now back in the galaxy far, far away, while Sabine and Ahsoka are stranded on the planet Peridea. Despite reversing their status, Ahsoka and Sabine have already accepted their fate. They know this place is where they need to be, and it’s time for them to move on.
However, Ezra may not allow Ahsoka and Sabine to remain on Peridea and may go on a mission to rescue them in Ahsoka Season 2. Alternatively, Thrawn may seek out Imperial cells across the galaxy and try to rebuild the empire. As for Baylan, his ending leaves a lot of questions, and it remains to be seen what will happen next to his story.
So far, there are no words yet on when Ahsoka Season 2 will be released. But with the welcoming updates coming, there may be more details about it in the future.
