If there's one thing that people have come to expect in Ahsoka, it's the awesome Easter eggs and references from the Star Wars Universe. Not surprisingly, the Disney+ series made a connection to an iconic ship that has appeared in the franchise for several decades. Did you spot the awesome reference to the legendary ship that appeared in Return of the Jedi?
In Ahsoka Episode 1, the titular Jedi learns about the recent attacks on a New Republic transport that led to the escape of Morgan Elsbeth. Ahsoka and Huyang then make their way to Home One where they are met and briefed by Hera Syndulla.
What is Home One and Why Is It Important in Star Wars?
There is little doubt that we don't need to explain the significance of Home One to Star Wars fans. The iconic ship, which is a modified Heavy Star Cruiser, is famous for being Admiral Gial Ackbar's flagship during the decisive battle fought at Endor in Return of the Jedi. It is later featured in Greg Rucka's book Before the Awakening, which takes place before the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In the novel, it is confirmed that General Leia Organa has taken command of Home One.
Although it's too early to tell, there's a huge chance we'll see more of Home One in Ahsoka. After all, the show already established that the ship is important to the Rebellion and will continue to play a major role in the sequel trilogy films. With that in mind, Home One could become the setting for another legendary Star War moment other than Ackbar's unforgettable "It's a trap!"
It's awesome to know that Home One continues to play a huge role in the Star Wars Universe even though we didn't get to see Admiral Ackbar in Ahsoka. Or maybe not yet? Could this mean we'll get to see him again in the new series? We're hoping this is something to look forward to in the upcoming episodes.
The premiere of Ahsoka consists of two huge episodes that immediately set the pace for the show. Fans immediately got to meet the major players and laid down their plans to find Grand Admiral Thrawn and, in extension, their old friend Ezra Bridger. Hopefully, we'll get an update on Ezra's fate in the next episode. Ahsoka Episode 3 premieres on Disney+ on August 29, 2023.
