Ahsoka is finally down to its last episode and people are already anticipating what could happen in the new Star Wars series. Will Grand Admiral Thrawn manage to escape Peridea with Morgan Elsbeth and the Great Mothers? How will Ahsoka Tano and her companions get out of the strange new planet? What is Baylan Skoll looking for out there? There are so many questions and now fans are wondering if all these queries will actually get an answer. The runtime for the season finale has been revealed and it might confirm that we're getting a major cliffhanger.
The Ahsoka Episode 8 runtime has been unveiled on X (formerly Twitter) and it is revealed to be 49 minutes long. That's already including the recap that kicks off each episode and the credits at the end, which means that the episode itself is only roughly 42 minutes long.
It's not exactly the shortest runtime in the MandoVerse since The Mandalorian Season 3 was also only 42 minutes long. Still, it's a FINALE and Star Wars fans were expecting the show to tie up a lot of loose ends the way The Book of Boba Fett (62 minutes) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (51 minutes) did with their final episodes. Considering that there are still a lot of questions that need answers (seriously, what is Baylan looking for out there?), 42 minutes just doesn't provide enough time to get a satisfactory conclusion.
Sure, it's disappointing to know that Ahsoka Episode 8 might end with a cliffhanger the size of the Eye of Scion but there is always hope. The abrupt finale might confirm that the series is getting a second season to allow more time for the story to unfold and provide the answers we seek.
Is Ahsoka Season 2 happening?
For now, Lucasfilm and Disney have not yet made an official announcement about a renewal. However, Rosario Dawson had previously spoken about her hopes that the series will be renewed because she wants to continue exploring her character's story. With that in mind, we're all looking forward to this week's episode.
Ahsoka Episode 8 will be directed by The Mandalorian alum Rick Famuyiwa. Although the season finale has not yet been given an official title, it is set to premiere on Disney+ on October 3, 2023.
