
The 9-nine- Ruler’s Crown anime unveiled a magical new trailer and confirmed its premiere for July 2025. The ending theme, Pale Blaze, is performed by Chihiro Yonekura. An early screening of the first two episodes is set for June 15 JST at Parthenon Tama. Additional staff credits include Fumiyuki Uehara (VAZZROCK THE ANIMATION co-chief animation director) as co-character designer.
The new trailer showcases the anime’s vibrant visuals and introduces the main characters in the setting of Shiratsume City, a seemingly ordinary academic town. It highlights a blend of slice-of-life and supernatural elements, with scenes of school life, character interactions, and hints of mysterious powers or artifacts.
The 9-nine- Ruler’s Crown poster features four female characters standing in a dynamic, ethereal setting with a large, glowing clock in the background, surrounded by floating geometric shapes and a mystical, blue-hued atmosphere. Above them, Japanese text reads "私は「繰り返す」──何度でも," which translates to "I will 'repeat'—as many times as it takes." The 9-nine- Ruler’s Crown anime is helmed by director Koichi Ohata, known for his work on Maken-ki! and Saiyuki Reload -burial-. Saori Sakiguchi, who previously served as character designer for Technoroid: Overmind, takes on the role of character designer for this series. The animation production is handled by Studio PRA, bringing the visual novel adaptation to life with their expertise.

9-nine- Ruler’s Crown draws inspiration from the 9-nine- visual novel series, developed by PALETTE, which debuted on PC in Japan in 2017 and started releasing in English on Steam in 2019. Steam's description of 9-nine-: Episode 1 reads:
9-nine- Episode 1 is the first volume in a series of supernatural mystery games, with Episode 1 telling a story centered around Miyako Kujo. The entries in the the 9-nine- series share the same setting and world, but each entry focuses on a different heroine. 9-nine- is a tale of the town of Shiromitsugawa, host to mysterious Artifacts and the superpowers they bestow on their Users. A tale of growing trust and budding romance between the protagonist and the heroine, and also a murder mystery where they hunt down the culprit behind a series of supernatural murders. The all-ages edition of the game launched for Windows in Japan in 2021, followed by releases for PS4 and Nintendo Switch in 2022.
