More than a year after The Next 365 Days hit Netflix, fans can’t help but ask, will there be 365 Days 4? Based on the book trilogy of the same name by Blanka Lipinska, this movie series has become one of the biggest international hits on the streamer. However, since the third film's release in August 2022, the service has remained mum about it, with no news update if another sequel will be in the works. So, will it still happen? Here’s everything we know so far.
365 Days is a Polish erotic movie series directed by Barbara Bialowas and Tomasz Mandes. Due to the first movie's success, Netflix started filming two sequels concurrently in 2021, with several original cast members returning, like Michele Morrone, Anna-Maria Sieklucka, and Magdalena Lamparska. But instead of being called 365 Days 2 and 365 Days 3, they were retitled to 365 Days: This Day and The Next 365 Days, released in 2022. So, will 365 Days 4 be next?
Will there be 365 Days 4?
So far, Netflix has not announced if there will be 365 Days 4. But knowing the streamer often works under the radar, there may be a chance it has been in talks with the franchise’s creative team to create a fourth movie. But for another sequel to happen, the creatives must devise an idea on how to continue Laura (Sieklucka) and Massimo’s (Morrone) story.
Netflix has already done three films following Lipinska’s book trilogy. Hence, there’s no source material left to be adapted for a fourth movie. Also, the first three films have told a complete story, which is hard to make a follow-up. But that doesn’t mean there’s no chance for the franchise to continue.
Netflix never billed or promoted The Next 365 Days as the final film in the franchise, which was quite typical when a successful series was about to come to a close. As it only called the third film the “next installment,” it seems to leave the door open for the fourth movie to happen. As they say, there’s always hope.
The Rumors About 365 Days 4
Sure, Netflix has yet to break its silence about the coming of 365 Days 4, but several rumors allude it may still happen. These claims even come from a major cast member and Lipinska herself.
In a post on Instagram a few days after the third movie’s release, though Morrone seemed to hint that it would be the final installment to the franchise, he remained hopeful. “The end of something is always a little bit sad.. but.. who knows….,” he captioned his post.
The book’s author, Lipinska, also told Today in 2022 that she was planning to revisit the story from Massimo’s point of view. So, by the looks of it, aside from a fourth film, another book may soon be in the works.
“This is the story from the beginning. But this time from the perspective of Massimo,” she said.
At the time, she was already thinking of how her past would inspire this new project. And to give fans an idea of its storyline, it was teased to be about revenge.
“When you're a movie maker, or when you're a writer, you have a bigger opportunity for revenge,” she continued.
However, nothing has come to fruition a year after the interview. Lepinkska has also remained mum about it. But who knows, Netflix may hear the fans cry and order 365 Days 4 soon.
