As we get closer to the final two episodes of X-Men '97 Season 1, fans are speculating that the next step for Marvel Animation is to follow it up with an Avengers vs. X-Men storyline. Now, a voice actor is clearly on board with the possibility as he recently shared his thoughts about the speculation, saying that there's "a real chance".

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the first season of X-Men '97

The past few episodes of X-Men '97 Season 1 featured superhero cameos from across the Marvel Universe, including Captain America and Spider-Man. Episode 7, titled Bright Eyes, featured an angry Rogue thirsty on revenge following the death of Gambit during the tragedy of Genosha. Along the way, she encounters Captain America, who's on a mission of his own.

Speaking to Comicbook.com's Phase Zero podcast, Professor X voice actor Ross Marquand talked about that scene, and argued that an Avengers vs. X-Men storyline has "a real chance" of happening.

"You saw what happened in the last episode [with] Rogue and Captain America," Marquand reminded. "There's a real chance that that could happen. He can't fly. Captain can't fly. She threw that in the side of a snowy mountain. I'm sure it's lodged in there 50 feet deep. He ain't gonna find that shield. It's not like Mjolnir where you can just like pull it back, it's stuck in that thing. He's gonna be pissed at Rogue for a while."

"I say this to my manager all the time," Marquand said of the prospect of continuing to play Charles Xavier. "if this is the last thing I do with my career, I'd die a happy man. I really would."

Is Avengers vs. X-Men happening in live-action?

Last month, a live-action Avengers vs. X-Men project is reportedly being planned at Marvel Studios. The rumor comes from Alex P. of The Cosmic Circus, who claims that the Avengers vs. X-Men project is happening in the near future of the Multiverse Saga. "Earth 616 vs 838 or 267 (universe from The Marvels)," the report reads.

However, Marvel Studios hasn't officially confirmed any plans for an Avengers vs. X-Men project, so take this rumor with a grain of salt.

Is X-Men '97 Season 2 coming?

Yes, Marvel Animation already renewed X-Men '97 for Season 2, and it's currently in the works. However, a premiere date hasn't been announced yet.

"We're working on season two. But we haven't started yet. I know a little bit of the storylines and characters," co-composer Taylor Newton Stewart said in a recent interview with The Direct. "It's always upping the ante. I mean, it's pretty intense what happens. Yeah, immediately when I was told, I was just like, 'Oh my gosh, what's happening? This is incredible.' So, just as a fan alone, I am very excited."
