The nearly 30-year wait will be soon over. X-Men '97 is almost here, and the story of the fan-favorite mutants is about to continue on the small screen. Disney+ has confirmed its new slate of content releasing this month, including the much-awaited revival of the classic X-Men: The Animated Series. So, fans will finally see its special two-episode premiere in a couple of weeks.
X-Men '97 will be the first X-Men series Marvel will produce under its Marvel Studios Animation after acquiring its rights from 20th Century Fox. Though it will not be officially Marvel Cinematic Universe canon, many can trust that it can stand up on its own, especially with the return of its iconic characters, like Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, and Wolverine, among many others. What is X-Men '97 about?
X-Men '97 will continue where the X-Men: The Animated Series left off. After the death of Professor X, Storm and Wolverine will handle the works he has left and continue the X-Men. However, now that the professor is gone, Magneto will return to take over Xavier Institute. From there, another battle will begin.
