The first season of Marvel Animation's Emmy-nominated series X-Men '97 turned out to be a huge hit. Created by Beau DeMayo, the 10-episode Season 1 revived the X-Men: The Animated Series (1992-1997) and it featured Marvel's fan-favorite team of mutants that include Rogue (voiced by Lenore Zann), Gambit (A.J. LoCascio), Wolverine (Cal Dodd), Storm (Alison Sealy-Smith), Cyclops (Ray Chase), Jean Grey (Jennifer Hale), Beast (George Buza), Bishop (Isaac Robinson-Smith), Morph (J.P. Karliak), Jubilee (Holly Chou), Sunspot (Gui Agustini), and the X-Men's new leader Magneto (Matthew Waterson).

While the second and third seasons are currently in development with no confirmed premiere dates yet, Marvel Studios is getting ready to share more behind-the-scenes details from the first season of X-Men '97. After releasing a making-of documentary special on Disney+, Marvel is going deeper into the production of Season 1, and has shared the details for the official X-Men '97: The Art and Making of the Animated Series book from Abrams Books. The 224-page hardcover, which is now available for pre-order on Amazon, is set to release on April 29, 2025, and currently retails for $50.

What's X-Men '97: The Art and Making of the Animated Series about?

The pages of The Art X-Men '97 feature "storyboards, character sketches, vehicle designs, new costumes, stills, animatic frames, cels," and more, sharing a behind the scenes look into every step of the process from design, to animation, to production. James Fields (The Art of The Batman) wrote this official behind-the-scenes art book, which also features a foreward by Brad Winderbaum, executive producer and the Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios.
