Just a few days after being officially announced, Isekai Channel released a teaser for the upcoming anime adaptation of Wistoria: Wand and Sword. But aside from showing the epic adventure that Will Serfort is about to begin, it also reveals the new anime’s release window: July 2024. You can see the preview below:

The Wistoria: Wand and Sword teaser begins with Will, a magicless student at Regarden Magical Academy, fighting off a huge purple monster. Will aims to fulfill his childhood promise by going to the tower. He’s next seen with his friend Colette, who’s also a Regarden Magical Academy student.

From there, the preview starts to introduce the anime’s other characters, like the Regarden Magical Academy teacher, Edward; another student, Zion; a fellow teacher, Workner; and one of the Magia Vende and Will’s childhood friend, Elfaria. From there, Will teased that fans were about to see a fantasy-action anime about a guy with a friend who was thinking about what his real goal was.

Who are the cast and staff of Wistoria: Wand and Sword?

So far, the anime has only released two main cast members for Wistoria: Wand and Sword: Kohei Amasaki as Will Serfort and Akira Sekine as Elfaria Alvis Serfort. Talking about his new project, Amasaki revealed that he got very excited after hearing that he had passed the audition, though he knew it would be a great responsibility.

But through this work and Will, he revealed that he learned to have courage and an unyielding spirit whenever a new challenge arose. “Even in the dubbing, I'm prepared to look forward like Will and turn many unknowns into knowns!” he said.

Alternatively, Sekine described her character as Elfaria an incredible girl for making Will fulfill his promise to her. With this challenging role, she promised to do her best and show Elfaria’s wonderful side to the viewers.

What is Wistoria: Wand and Sword about?

Wistoria: Wand and Sword follows the story of Will, who has entered a magic academy to become a full-fledged magician. However, as a weak magician who can’t use magic at all, he often gets cold stares from his teachers and classmates. But despite wanting to give up, he still pushes himself and uses a sword to fight to lean on his strength and fighting skills. As he believes in his own abilities, he wants to fulfill his promise to his loved ones.

You can read the synopsis below:

Will Serfort dreams of keeping his promise to a childhood friend by becoming a Magia Vander, one of the mighty magicians who sit atop the Wizard’s Tower. However, he is unable to cast even the simplest of spells, leaving him to fight dungeon monsters to earn credits at Regarden Magical Academy. As if that weren’t enough, he finds himself putting his sword skills to the test against a bullying professor.

The anime is based on the manga of the same title, written by Fujino Omori and illustrated by Toshi Aoi. It started its serialization in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine on December 9, 2020. Its first part ended on May 8, 2023, and it had collected nine tankobon volumes as of February 2024. It was licensed in English by Kodansha USA. It was then adapted into anime by Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures and is set to premiere in July 2024.
