The Wind Breaker anime adaptation has released the first character trailer for the series that's expected to premiere in 2024. The character trailer reveals that Yuma Uchida (Reo, Blue Lock) will play the protagonist Haruka Sakura. The news officially comes from Wind Breaker's official X (formerly Twitter). Studio CloverWorks will be in charge of the animation of Wind Breaker.

In recent years, Yuma Uchida is known for playing Kawaki in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Tsuyoshi Mukoda in Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill, Reo Mikage in Blue Lock, and Megumi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen among other anime roles.
It was previously confirmed that the other character, Kyōtarō Sugishita, will be voiced by Koki Uchiyama, so we'll likely see a character trailer for him soon.
What is Wind Breaker manga about?
The anime is based on the Wind Breaker manga series written and illustrated by Satoru Nii, which debuted in Kodansha's Magazine Pocket in 2021 and as of September 2023, 13 volumes have been published. the series was among AnimeJapan 2022‘s most desired works to receive an anime adaptation. Kodansha USA licensed the manga in North America, and print copies are expected to arrive this fall.

Haruka Sakura wants nothing to do with weaklings—he’s only interested in the strongest of the strong. He’s from Fuurin High School, a school of near-dropout degenerates known only for their brawling strength. And in a town known for its territorial disputes, Haruka’s got only one goal—become the hero his town deserves.
