A new anime is coming! Based on the Japanese yuri (lesbian) manga by Eku Takeshima, fans are about to see Himari and Yori’s love story on the small screen for the first time in Cloud Hearts and Yokohama Animation Laboratory’s anime adaptation of Whisper Me a Love Song. The series has now dropped its first preview, revealing an encounter between the two leads.
The teaser begins with a close-up view of Yori, a third-year student, as she takes the stage and is about to sing. Himari, a high school freshman, can’t help but be in awe of Yori’s presence as she starts to perform. “I fell in love with my senior at first sight,” she says. Deeply infatuated, Himari can’t help but confess her feelings for Yori.
But as Himari runs away, Yori ends up cringing, revealing she has never been in a relationship. She even says that love has nothing to do with her. Unbeknownst to Yori’s feelings, Himari is dreaming of hearing Yori’s voice again. As Yori seems to be making fun of Himari’s affection for her, she says she should be prepared as she plans to make her fall in love even more.

Xin Ya Cai was supposed to direct the new anime, but he was replaced by Akira Mano (Ghost Hunt) for health reasons. Yuki Uchida works on the series composition, along with Yoshida Minami on character design and Yu Sasaki and Wataru Maeguchi on music. Kana Sakura and Water Swivel are the vocal artists behind Yori and Shiho Izumi, respectively, when they sing.
What is Whisper Me a Love Song about?
Whisper Me a Love Song follows the story of Himari and Yori. On the first day of school, Himari quickly falls for her senior, Yori, after seeing her singing with her band during a welcome party for the students. Himari tells Yori about her feelings for her, and the latter believes it’s something romantic. However, Yori soon realizes she’s also falling in love with Himari, promising she will try to win her affection.

Originally scheduled for release in January 2024, Whisper Me a Love Song was moved to April 2024. With a new yuri anime coming on the small screen, fans of this genre will surely look out for this.
