Netflix has released a new trailer, preview stills, and a poster for the second part of When Life Gives You Tangerines. The streamer released the first four episodes last Friday, and four new episodes are scheduled to be released weekly throughout this month. The K-drama series follows the adventures of “the remarkable rebel” Ae-sun (Lee Ji-eun, a.k.a. IU) and the “unyielding iron” Gwan-sik (Park Bo-gum) through four vibrant seasons on Jeju Island.
The trailer highlights the journey of Ae-sun and Gwan-sik as they navigate life together, strengthened by the bond of family they make. Once a shy bookworm girl who couldn't even sell cabbages at the market, Ae-sun grows into a determined mother who becomes the head of the local fishing community. Meanwhile, Gwan-sik grows into a reliable father who'd do anything for Ae-sun and their children.
The trailer also teases the story of their first child, Geum-myeong, who has now become a college student. By her side, Moon So-ri and Park Hae-joon take over the older versions of Ae-sun and Gwan-sik, respectively. In the trailer, you can hear Geum-myeong narrate, “In the thriving spirit of summer, even my young parents grew. I blossomed, nourished by their dreams".
The latest poster features Ae-sun and Gwan-sik in their 20s, now married, set against the backdrop of the seaside. Gwan-sik is carrying a lunchbox in one hand and a fishing net on one shoulder, gazing in the same direction as Ae-sun, who's leaning on him, smiling brightly. The poster tagline, “Dedicated to you. Still so young, always so tender-hearted,” teases the next chapter of their journey as they build a family together, grow into their roles as parents, and navigate the trials and errors of life.
New preview stills were also released for When Life Gives You Tangerines Volume 2, and you can check them out in the image gallery below:
The second volume of When Life Gives You Tangerines will see IU continuing to take on a dual role as both the young Ae-sun and her daughter Geum-myeong, showcasing her multifaceted acting skills. The second part will also introduce Lee Jun-young as a new character named Yeong Beom.
