Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, the sequel to Masashi Kishimoto’s beloved Naruto series, released its first anime episode on April 5, 2017 in Japan. The sequel of the anime based on the manga originally written by Ukyo Kodachi and illustrated by Mikio Ikemoto, with Masashi Kishimoto as the editorial supervisor for the project. Boruto follows the story of Naruto’s son, Boruto, as he trains to be one of the world’s greatest ninja.
Part 1 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime concluded on Sunday, March 26, 2023 with the release of Episode 293, titled Farewell. According to the announcement on Viz Media’s official Twitter account, this would be the last episode of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Part 1, and that Part 2 has already been given the green light.

When is Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime potentially returning?
On July 18, it was announced that Boruto manga will return for Part 2 of the series, which is titled Two Blue Vortex. The first chapter of the new series debuted on August 20, 2023, but as of August 29, there have been no further updates as to when Boruto anime is returning. It’s also unclear why the anime is in hiatus but it may be connected to the harsh criticism the series has received.
in late August 2023, Boruto content creator Worlf claims that Boruto anime will not return in 2024, but take this rumor as a grain of salt until we get official confirmation.
If you're wondering if there will be any announcements about the future of Boruto anime at Jump Festa 2024, you'd be bummed to know that the series is not included in the full schedule for this December's annual event.

What will Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Part 2 of the anime be about?
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime started adapting the Code Arc of the manga on February 12, 2023, and after a climactic confrontation with the villainous Code and an intense battle between a Momoshiki-controlled Boruto and Kawaki, which resulted in Boruto’s “death”, Naruto’s son is resurrected, thanks to Momoshiki’s power.
Part 1 of the anime ended with the scene of Boruto and Kawaki facing each other on the Hokage Rock, the mountain overlooking Konohagakure that has all the faces of the Hokage carved into the stone before giving viewers a glimpse of the dark future that was first teased in the first episode of Boruto anime.
Since the anime hasn’t adapted all the manga chapters of the Code Arc yet, it’s likely that Part 2 will pick up where Part 1 left off, with Kara (Code, Eida, and Daemon) continuing to be a major threat to Konoha. It’s likely that Part 2 of Boruto anime will also give us another glimpse of the future that will happen after the expected timeskip.
With the manga's recent return and revelation that there's a four-year timeskip in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, it’s likely that we will see a timeskip after the anime adapts all the chapters of the Code Arc. At of late September 2023, two chapters of Two Blue Vortex have already been released, and it looks like the conflict between Boruto, Kawaki, and Code is just starting to heat up.
