In a few days, fans will finally see the continuation of Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack’s (Martin Henderson), along with the events happening in the small town in Northern California in Virgin River Season 5. And before Netflix releases its new batch of episodes, the series’ official Instagram page treats fans with a behind-the-scenes still, giving a major update about Mel.

Based on the novels of the same name by Robyn Carr, Virgin River has become one of the most favorite series on Netflix. Starting its first season in 2019, it was released to critical acclaim and positive reviews, with its fourth season receiving a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Also, the show has already been renewed for a sixth season ahead of Virgin River Season 5’s release.

The BTS photo shows Doc (Thim Matheson) and Hope (Annette O’Toole) holding each other while lovingly staring at Mel and Jack. Though the preview looks nothing special, wait until you see what seems to be a baby bump on Mel’s tummy.

“Love is a beautiful thing,” the caption reads. You can check the preview still below:

Is Mel pregnant in Virgin River Season 5?

Warning: Major spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk.

Fans have known Mel is pregnant since the end of the third season. And considering Mel’s origin story in the series, this news has been an emotional moment for the female protagonist.

Mel gave birth to a stillborn baby when she married her former husband, Mark (Daniel Gillies), in the third season. Later, Mark died in a tragic car accident while arguing about IVF. From there, Mel moved to Virgin River, started a new life, and met Jack.

Is Jack the father of Mel’s baby?

The third season ended with the question of whether Jack was the father of Mel’s baby. At the time, Mel decided to get inseminated with Mark’s embryo while she also slept with Jack.

The fourth season finale later confirmed Jack is the father of Mel’s baby, and the couple will have a baby girl. And if that’s not enough, Jack finally proposed to Mel, and she said yes, so the two are now engaged.

So, will there be a wedding? Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told TV Line the possibility of it, but they’re still enjoying Mel and Jack’s engagement. “So, we’re moving at that pace with all of the things they have ahead of them, anticipating [a wedding] down the road,” he said.
