The official website of Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss But I’m Not the Demon Lord anime has released a new trailer and visual featuring characters based on the light novel series written by Satori Tanabata. The new trailer previews the upcoming anime's opening and ending theme songs. Rina Hidaka will be joining the cast as Eleanora Hillrose. The opening song, titled LOVE or HATE? is performed by Mayu Maeshima, while Eleanora (Rina Hidaka) and Yumiella (Fairouz Ai) are performing the ending song, Suiki ga Levechi.

Animation studio Jumondo is animating the isekai anime with director Minoru Yamaoka helming it. The scripts are written by Fumihiko Shimo, while Lo Ho Kim and Hitomi Kaiho are working on the character designs. The music of the anime is composed by Kana Utatane.

The Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss But I’m Not the Demon Lord light novel series by Satori Tanabata initially launched on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in June 2018, and it was acquired by Kadokawa, which published the series with illustrations by Tea in May 2019. The series also received a manga adaptation with illustrations by Nokomi, and it's currently ongoing.
J-Novel Club, which licensed the light novel series in English, shared a plot description for the isekai story:
Yumiella Dolkness is your run-of-the-mill villainess in an otome RPG—except for the fact that she’s also secretly the overpowered hidden boss. But Yumiella wasn’t always Yumiella, you see. In her past life, she was nothing more than an introverted college student and devout gamer. So when she realizes that she’s been reincarnated as a hidden boss, she’s determined to steer clear of the protagonists and avoid her demise at their hands. All she wants is a nice, quiet life.
