Just a few months after the staff of Undead Unluck anime promised a big announcement back in March, the supernatural comedy series is getting ready for a major comeback. The official website and social media accounts for the Undead Unluck anime have announced that a one-hour special anime project is currently in production and is set to release in Winter 2025. TMS Entertainment clarified that the release window is referring to the end of the year rather than the upcoming Winter 2025 anime season, which seasonal anime fans might initially think of.
The Undead Unluck anime staff previously teased that there will be a major announcement for August 1, which is the date of Andy and Fuko's first encounter. Studio David Production will return to produce the animation for the upcoming anime. A "super" teaser video and key visual were also revealed, both featuring a flaming sword weathering a harsh blizzard. You can watch the new teaser below:

Returning members from the Undead Unluck TV anime include Yuki Yase as the director, Hideyuki Morioka as the character designer, and Kenichiro Suehiro as the music composer. We can also expect most of the Japanese voice cast to return for the upcoming special. Here's a list of the Season 1 cast:

What is Undead Unluck about?
Undead Unluck is based on the supernatural comedy manga sereis by Yoshifumi Tokuza, and it has been serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since January 2020, and as of July 2023, its chapters have been collected in 17 tankoubon volumes. Viz licensed the manga in English, and shared the following story description:
What happens when an unlucky girl meets an undead guy? Pure chaos! Tired of inadvertently killing people with her special ability Unluck, Fuuko Izumo sets out to end it all. But when she meets Andy, a man who longs for death but can’t die, she finds a reason to live—and he finds someone capable of giving him the death he’s been longing for. All Fuuko wants is a whirlwind romance like the one in her favorite shojo manga. Unfortunately, her Unluck ability makes that impossible. But just as Fuuko hits rock bottom, Andy sweeps her off her feet—literally! Now she’s become Andy’s unwilling test subject as he works to find a way to trigger a stroke of Unluck big enough to kill him for good. However, when the pair discovers a secret organization is hunting them, it puts Andy’s burial plans on hold.
