The official X account of The Rising of the Shield Hero has released the third season's opening video, which features the theme song SIN by MADKID. Shingo Yamashita directed, edited, and storyboarded the opening. He previously worked on both openings for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1, the opening for Chainsaw Man, and the second opening of Ranking of Kings.

This also marks their third opening theme performance of 2023 since they also did the opening for Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre and Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero. As for Yamashita, his recent works include the opening for Urusei Yatsura and the second opening for Twin Star Exorcist. Yamashita also worked on opening 13 for Naruto Shippuden.
What is The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3's plot?
The anime is based on the The Rising of the Shield Hero light novel series by Aneko Yusagi with Seira Minami’s illustrations, the third season of the anime is adapting the Rebuilding arc and the Fallen Heroes arc, which are based on the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth volumes of the light novel series. The new season is directed by Hitoshi Haga at Kinema Citrus alongside Keigo Koyanagi who is in charge of the script and series composition.

Learning that other nations are enduring the Calamity Waves, Naofumi vows to fight. But before he can begin, word comes that the massive Spirit Tortoise is free. Left unchecked, this rampaging monster could destroy the world. He assembles companions Raphtalia and Filo and a few new allies, one of which reveals scary news—this was no accident. Someone deliberately unleashed the legendary beast!
The Rebuilding arc sees Naofumi and his fellow heroes grappling with the aftermath of the Spirit Tortoise incident. Throughout the arc, the anime's protagonist, the Shield Hero, assists the other three prominent heroes in coming to grips with the consequences of the catastrophic defeat and working through the implications for their respective lives.
The Fallen Heroes arc features the arduous journey of Ren, Itsuki, and Motoyasu as they grapple with the aftermath of the Spirit Tortoise catastrophe. In the wake of this tragedy, all three heroes lose their sense of purpose and disappear from sight. Naofumi, having liberated some former slaves from Raphtalia's hometown, endeavors to locate the missing heroes. However, his quest is impeded by the presence of assassins who are tailing him.
