Last week, the anime adaptation of Shinogi Kazanami's fantasy light novel series, The New Gate, premiered, and it looks like the series is gearing up to be one of the many exciting isekai shows to watch this Spring 2024 anime season. The official website of the anime has revealed preview stills and an official synopsis for The New Gate Episode 2, which is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, April 20. The synopsis reveals that Shin will find a small fox suffering inside a barrier, and it looks like the creature will be his future little companion.

The title The New Gate Episode 2 is Little Partner. Studios CLOUDHEARTS and Yokohama Animation Lab are in charge of the animation. The isekai anime is being directed by Tamaki Nakatsu, who was previously worked on an episode of The Irregular at Magic High School. According to the English translation, here's the official synopsis for the second episode of the anime:

In the Kingdom of Beilricht, rumors were spreading about a Skull Face that had appeared near the kingdom and possessed unconventional strength. After secretly defeating Skull Face, the owner of the rumor, and reporting to the guild, Shin meets Millie, who has escaped from the church's orphanage, and Wilhelm, who was looking for Millie. Milly returns to the orphanage and tells Shin, "I want you to help Mr. Fox.'' When Shin heads to the northern forest for help, what he sees is a small fox suffering inside a barrier.

The New Gate anime is based on the original isekai fantasy light novel series written by Shinogi Kazanami, which was first published on December 27, 2013 by Alphapolis, and there are currently 21 volumes.
