The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan has added a third name to its main cast, with the anime's official website unveiling a character visual for Tesfia "Fia" Fable on Wednesday. Eri Yukimura will voice the noblewoman, joining a lineup that is now taking shape ahead of the series' 2027 premiere.
Tesfia is the daughter of the noble Fable family and a first-year student at the same magic academy Alus attends. She is a gifted ice magic user with a proud, competitive streak, and she will train under Alus alongside her close friend Alice.
Loki Leevahl, the other previously announced lead, arrives at the academy as Alus's partner. A lightning magic user raised inside the military, she once ranked as high as 157th among Magicmasters and has sworn herself to Alus ever since he saved her life.
The main cast announced so far is:
Eri Yukimura as Tesfia "Fia" Fable
Yuto Uemura (Atsushi Nakajima in Bungo Stray Dogs) as Alus Reigin
Yui Ogura (Kokona Aoba in Encouragement of Climb) as Loki Leevahl
Yusuke Suzuki directs the anime at HOTLINE, with Juichiro Ichikawa handling series composition and Yuki Kitajima designing the characters. Takatoshi Hamano serves as sound director.
What is The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan about?
The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan is a fantasy action series based on the light novels written by Izushiro and illustrated by Ruria Miyuki, published under Hobby Japan's HJ Bunko label. The novels have passed one million copies in circulation, with 20 volumes out and a 21st scheduled for December, and Karu Yoneshiro's manga adaptation, The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan: The Alternative, is complete at 10 volumes.
J-Novel Club, which publishes the novels in English, describes the story as follows:
In a world where the Fiends run rampant... Magicmaster Alus Reigin, the young prodigy that has defeated more Fiends and reclaimed more of humanity's lost territory than anyone else alive, requests retirement from military service at age 16. But due to the twists and turns of fate surrounding his status as the No. 1 Magicmaster in the nation—the top Magicmaster out of more than 100,000—he ends up as a student at a special magical institute, hiding his identity and training his successors – a pair of beautiful Magicmaster girls! Not to mention continuing to defeat Fiends in secret... Get ready—the epic adventure of the Greatest Magicmaster Alus Reigin begins now!
The setting raises the stakes behind that arrangement. Fiends appeared a century ago and drove humanity to the brink, and magic was turned into a military weapon simply to survive — which is why a 16-year-old veteran sits at the very top of the ranks.
The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan is scheduled to premiere in 2027 on the CBC/TBS network in Japan. No international streaming partner has been announced.
