The Flash: Hideo Kojima Shares Honest Review of DC Flick

It has been a long wait but The Flash finally got its theatrical release. Although the film has been subjected to several criticisms, it is the honest review from legendary game creator Hideo Kojima that hits home.

The Flash had famously been in production hell for several years and even after its completion, the movie just couldn't catch a break. The latest problem that the film was burdened with was Ezra Miller's legal issues which threatened to cancel the project altogether.

Luckily, The Flash still managed to screen in theaters and Hideo Kojima shared his thoughts on the film. Interestingly, the Death Stranding director's only criticism is that it didn't feature the Barry Allen he admired.

"I am a big fan of Grant Gustin's version of the drama," Kojima tweeted. "I was hoping to see more of the STAR Labs crew, but I also enjoyed this film, which is also in the Justice League vein."

It's great to know that Kojima is also a huge fan of the CW show and the Barry Allen portrayed by Grant Gustin. After all, Gustin's version of the speedster has been around longer than the DCEU version and already has an established storyline that people have been following for years.

Although he was disappointed about Gustin's absence, Kojima went on to share a generally positive review of The Flash.

"Speaking of The Flash, the multiverse, like continuity in video games, destroys old-school storytelling. However, that is what they have done well with the plot," he continued.

"It's not a stand-alone film or a prequel, but a brilliant multiverse device for new fans from Justice League and old DC fans from the past," Kojima wrote. "A triumph of planning and casting."

It's an awesome review of The Flash but that doesn't mean Hideo Kojima didn't have something to complain about. In a follow-up tweet, he wrote, "If I had one complaint, it would be the way the flash running fast."

If you're a fan of the CW series, you understand what he means by this. The film depicted Barry Allen's speed differently than the TV show. With that in mind, it's clear that Kojima had a preference.

The Flash was released in June and is still screening in theaters worldwide.
