Ever since Marvel Studios finally confirmed the cast of its new Fantastic Four, which is now titled The Fantastic Four, the anticipation for the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie has become incredibly high. This results in a number of theories about its story and how the studio will introduce it to the MCU. Of course, it also includes speculations about the main villains who will terrorize Marvel’s first family. That said, film critic Jeff Sneider claims Galactus will serve as the movie’s main antagonist, with Silver Surfer in a supporting role and Doctor Doom appearing in the end.
The veteran entertainment reporter The InSneider claims that fans will get to see Galactus and The Silver Surfer on the big screen again after the 2007 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. This time, now that The Fantastic Four will be part of the MCU, these two will be introduced to Marvel’s shared universe along with the superhero quartet Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Johnny Storm/Human Torch, who will be played by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, respectively.
According to Sneider, Marvel eyes Javier Bardem to take the role of Galactus, and this may even come to fruition as this comes from the source who first revealed that Pascal would play Richards. However, due to scheduling issues, the studio has yet to make a deal with Bardem. In addition, it has yet to figure out who may portray Silver Surfer, though it’s said to be currently meeting with actors. In Doctor Doom’s case, Sneider said he might not show up until the movie's end, probably in the end credits, so his casting may come up late.
How will Galactus and Silver Surfer appear in The Fantastic Four?
Though Sneider didn’t reveal the specifics of how Galactus and Silver Surfer would appear in The Fantastic Four, it might happen if the film were based on The Galactus Trilogy. In the 1996 comic book story arc, which appeared in the Fantastic Four #48-50, the Fantastic Four met Galactus for the first time.
Galactus’ world ship emerged over Manhattan, and as he appeared, he declared his intention to consume the world. Of course, the Fantastic Four didn’t let it happen, and a great battle ensued. From there, Silver Surfer arrived and attacked his former master, giving Johnny the time he needed to return to planet Earth after traveling to Galactus’ home to get the Ultimate Nullifier to destroy the villain.
The Fantastic Four is set to hit the theaters on July 25, 2025. With the official announcement of its main cast, fans can expect more details about the movie to come out soon.
