The highly-anticipated The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 premiered last week, and the first episode showed Jinshi visiting the concubines and observing an imbalance in the number of Loulan's ladies-in-waiting. Working with Guen in a clinic, Maomao develops disinfectants and scented oils to ensure Gyokuyou’s pregnancy remains safe. "Maomao", the rescued kitten, becomes a pet at the palace, and Xiaolan is keen to learn for her future as the shipment of explicit books prompts literacy initiatives. Maomao also hears rumors about a caravan coming to town.
The official website of the romance series has unveiled a teaser video, preview stills, and an official synopsis for The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 Episode 2 (Episode 26 overall), which is titled Caravan, and the episode synopsis reveals that its story will focus on the caravan arriving at the harem. OLM and TOHO Animation studios returned to produce The Apothecary Diaries Season 2. Norihiro Naganuma, who directed the first season, is directing the second season with the same main staff, which includes Akimi Fudesaka as a director, and Wataru Nakagawa as assistant director, and Yukiko Nakatani as the character designer. The trio of Kevin Penkin, Arisa Okehazama, and Satoru Kosaki are in charge of the anime's music.

The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 Episode 2 set to premiere in Japan on Friday, January 17 at 11:40PM JST. The new episode will be released on Crunchyroll with English subtitles in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East and CIS following its broadcast.
In Japan, the Romance/Mystery anime series will broadcast on local TV channels such as AT-X, Nippon Television, Animax, Movie Channel Neco, each following its own schedule. The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 will have a total of 25 episodes, so we can expect 24 more new episodes to release this year.
What is The Apothecary Diaries about?
The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) anime is based on the mystery romance light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. Since 2011, the drama series has been serialized on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website before it was acquired by Shufunotomo, who initially published it as a novel with a single volume in 2012 and then as a light novel series in 2014.
The series also received a couple of manga adaptations in 2017: one published by Shogakukan in Monthly Sunday Gene-X, and the other published by Square Enix in Monthly Big Gangan. J-Novel Club licensed the light novel series digitally in North America, and Square Enix licensed it in print. Square Enix also licensed the manga illustrated by Nekokurage.
