The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 is one of the most highly-anticipated sequels airing in the Winter 2025 anime season, and today, the official website of the romance series has unveiled a teaser video, preview stills, and an official synopsis for its first episode. The previews tease an "unsuual guest" suddenly appearing, and it looks like it's referring to the tiny cat. It looks like this is going to be a lighthearted, fun start to a new season.

The title of the first episode of The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 Episode 1 (Episode 25 overall) is Maomao to Maomao. It's set to premiere in Japan on Friday, January 10 at 11:40PM JST. It will be released on Crunchyroll with English subtitles in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East and CIS following its broadcast. The spring garden party ended without incident, and Nekoneko returned to her daily life as Princess Tamayaba's poison tester. Meanwhile, popular novels were all the rage in the harem. Nekoneko wondered why novels, which were not considered a refined form of entertainment, were so popular, but Jinshi had his own intentions as the harem manager. Then, in the spring weather, when he went out to accompany Princess Suzurei, the daughter of Princess Tamayaba, on a walk, a small, unusual guest suddenly appeared...

OLM and TOHO Animation studios returned to produce The Apothecary Diaries Season 2. Norihiro Naganuma, who directed the first season, will return to direct the second season with the same main staff, which includes Akimi Fudesaka as a director, and Wataru Nakagawa as assistant director, and Yukiko Nakatani as the character designer. The trio of Kevin Penkin, Arisa Okehazama, and Satoru Kosaki will be in charge of the anime's music.

What is The Apothecary Diaries about?

The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) anime is based on the mystery romance light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. Since 2011, the drama series has been serialized on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website before it was acquired by Shufunotomo, who initially published it as a novel with a single volume in 2012 and then as a light novel series in 2014.

The series also received a couple of manga adaptations in 2017: one published by Shogakukan in Monthly Sunday Gene-X, and the other published by Square Enix in Monthly Big Gangan. J-Novel Club licensed the light novel series digitally in North America, and Square Enix licensed it in print. Square Enix also licensed the manga illustrated by Nekokurage.
