With a huge cliffhanger as an ending, many have clamored for Sweet Home Season 2, which will reportedly be back this year.

Based on the popular webcomic of the same name by Kim Carnby and Hwang Young-chan, the show follows the tale of Cha Hyun-soo (played by Song Kang), a troubled high school student, and the other inhabitants of Green Home surrounded by monsters that intend to eradicate humanity. Together, they battle these bloodthirsty monsters and attempt to save their lives. Series director Lee Eung-bok previously shared that he intends to remain faithful to the original webcomic. Despite Lee's intentions, the first season significantly deviated from the source material by introducing new characters and altering the plot. This is not impossible to happen to Sweet Home Season 2.

Lee disclosed during a press conference that he and his team had already completed the Sweet Home Season 2 storyline. The director said, as translated by Soompi:

While we were writing, we completed the end of the storyline ourselves so there are a couple things that came out after we were done. If the opportunity arises, we want to also introduce the monsters that we weren’t able to.

In an official press release, director Lee Eung-bok described Sweet Home Season 2 as ” a full-fledged apocalyptic drama.” He went on to say that, “While Season 1 portrayed tension and fear in the confined space of the Green Home, Season 2 will be set in an open space with the introduction of a whole new group of characters and monsters.”

Early in 2023, Netflix also released the storyline for the second installment of the South Korean apocalyptic horror streaming television series. Read the Sweet Home Season 2 synopsis below:

Song Kang, Lee Jin-uk, Lee Si-young, Ko Min-si, and Park Gyu-young — the residents of Green Home who, in the previous season, delivered overwhelming tension as they risked their lives through bloody battles against their neighbors-turned-monsters — return again in season 2 to offer thrills and tension of a whole new different kind. Joining the cast in the new season are actors Yoo Oh-seon, Oh Jung-se, Kim Mu-yeol, and Jin-young, portraying the various dimensions of human nature and desires as they find themselves at a crossroads for survival. Having opened new horizons for K-content with its diverse creatures designed and built with a global dream team, Sweet Home Season 2 is ready to mesmerize audiences around the world once again with its expanded world and story.
